LAGOS ASSEMBLY APPROVES N535.8 MILLION FOR 100 POLICE PATROL VANS

"The lawmakers gave expeditious approval to the money bill"

The Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday approved N535.8 million supplementary appropriation requested by Governor Babatunde Fashola to purchase 100 Toyota Hilux vans for police surveillance in the state.

The approval was given at the plenary following a request by the governor via a letter addressed to the Speaker, Adeyemi Ikuforiji.

Mr. Fashola said in the letter that the state government needed the amount to purchase the vans which were expected to be donated to the State Police Command for its operations.

According to the governor, the vehicles will enable the law enforcement agents to effectively police the state.

The lawmakers gave expeditious approval to the money bill.

Also at the plenary, the lawmakers passed a motion calling on the governor to complete the expansion of Epe-Ibeju-Lekki Expressway.

They said early completion of the project would reduce accidents on the road.

They also urged relevant state ministries, departments and agencies to rid the road of the menace of hawkers, noting that their activities had impeded free flow of traffic.
