“But since the time SARS men took over, we have been recording successes as members of the gang have been brought to book”.
The
first son of Chief Idowu Obembe, the chairman of Noblity Stores Ilesa whose
controversial death recently generated dust in Ilesa, Osun State, has called on
the Inspector General of Police, Mohamed Abubakar and the Minister of Police
Affairs, Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade, (Rtd) as well as the chairman of Police
Service Commission, Sir Mike Okiro to adequately compensate men of Special
Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS of Osun State Police Command.
Mr.
Wale Obembe stated this in a conversation with our correspondent in Osogbo on
the recent arrest of Precious Gbadegesin, one of the notorious kidnappers who
kidnapped his father, Mr. Idowu Obembe infront of his Beer Deport located along
Ijebu-Jesa road, Ilesa and subsequently killed him.
The
kidnap syndicate who specializes in kidnapping, armed robbery, car snatching, house
breaking and stealing, was behind the ordeal of the people of Ilesa, Ile-Ife
and some other town in Osun State.
Before
the heinous activity was brought to an end by men of Special Anti-Robbery
Squad, of Osun State Police Command, according to a report, the gang had
operated in different part of the State.
This
include the kidnap of one Ogundoyin in Ife, Wole Komolafe, son of one Sunday
Sunday Komolafe.
While
commending the efforts put up by SARS men led by Mr. Adekunle Omoyele, a Deputy
Superintendent of Police, (DSP) and the leader of the team that eventually
arrested the suspect which led by one Inspector Felix, Mr. Wale Obembe, a
lecturer at the Osun State University, Osogbo charged the police Management
team to give adequate commendation to all officers that worked to reveal the
mystery behind his father’s death.
He
told our correspondent that despite the fact the police officers couldn’t access
scientific aide and without collecting any money, they were able to bring to an
end the nefarious act of the suspects. “These Policemen should be compensated and
commended. Initially when the case was with the SSS, we gave N8 million as
ransom before the case was reported to the police, and despite the money paid,
there was nothing to show forth”.
“But
since the time SARS men took over, we have been recording successes as members
of the gang have been brought to book”.
Mr.
Wale Obembe stated further that, “We want to beg the Police Management to
please compensate these people for us”.
