APC ACCUSES PDP OF PLANNING TO UNLEASH VIOLENCE IN EKITI STATE

The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has accused the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP of plans by some elements in the Party’s fold to cause chaos during President Goodluck Jonathan’s visit to the state on Saturday.
The acting state Chairman of APC, Chief Jide Awe, during a press conference in Ado Ekiti, on Monday, alleged that there was a plan by the PDP to unleash terror on the state during the president’s visit in order to indict the APC.
President Jonathan will be visiting Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) on Saturday to commission the state-of-art College of Engineering of the school and to witness the maiden convocation ceremony of the private university.
Awe also alleged that the opposition party was planning to disrupt the third year anniversary rally of Governor Kayode Fayemi billed to hold at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti.
“The PDP in the state plans to heat up the polity for possible declaration of a state of emergency by the Federal Government,” he said.
“We got a hint from the grapevine that the PDP is planning to disrupt our programme at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in order to embarrass the governor.
“This is a calculated attempt to frame up some of our members as trouble makers.
“We want to state that if the PDP actors are planning to take advantage of the visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to show off, then it should be done with modesty and not by setting the state on fire in order to create the impression that APC is out to embarrass the President.”
But reacting, PDP state publicity Secretary, Pastor Kola Oluwawole, dismissed the allegation, describing it as a figment of the APC’s imagination.
“The preoccupation of the PDP in Ekiti State is to put its house in order to present a credible candidate that would dislodge Governor Kayode Fayemi from office in 2014,” he said.
