OSUN APC NOW IN COLD WAR

There seems to be a cold war currently going on between the factions of All Progressive Party, APC in Osun State.

Currently, TheNews Daily learnt the two major stakeholders in the party, the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and that of Congress for Progressive Change, CPC are currently not on the good terms owing to some matters that are yet to be resolved.

According to one of the State Executive of the party who would not want his name to be mentioned, the members of the ruling party in the State hitherto prided as the State of the Living Spring now State of Virtue, are waiting anxiously for the national leadership of the party to wade into the matter before the full commencement of preparations into 2014 gubernatorial elections in the State.

Stating what could have led to the internal crisis; our respondent noted that members of CPC are very much angry owing to the distribution of position in the party. He added that members of other political party that forms APC were been marginalized on the distribution and appointment into key offices within the party.

He noted that apart from the fact that members of Action Congress of Nigeria dominates the affairs of the party, most important position in party were being distributed within only members of ACN leaving less important seats for others.

Scooping around, TheNews Daily gathered that efforts put up by members of CPC to make their grievance known to the Osun State governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola were proved abortive. “You wouldn’t believe that we have not been able to even see governor to let him know what we are passing through”

“ACN members treat us like second citizens. We don’t have sense of belonging. They haven’t made any effort to have good rapport with us”
Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of Congress for Progressive Change in Osun State Hon Olalekan Banjo has said again that nothing can stop himfrom costesting next year governoship election in Osun State.

Hon Banjo who is also not happy with the present situation within the party said despite the merger between his defunct party and that of Aregbesola said despite the adoption of Aregbesola by members of his own APC, he remain a candidate of the party who will lock horns with other candidates come next election.

According to him “I have not for once dropped my gubernatorial ambition for
anybody whatsoever and in whatever manner. ACN has Aregbesola as its
gubernatorial candidate while I am also a gubernatorial aspirant of the CPC
and now that of the APC.”

He also declared that the APC has not chosen any candidate to represent it in the next year gubernatorial poll as rumoured in some quarters. The South-West CPC had in a statement recently dissociated themselves from the leadership of Elder Adelowo Adebiyi led APC in Osun State.
