Afenifere
Chieftain and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ekiti
State, Prince Dayo Adeyeye has described the three years of Dr Kayode Fayemi’s
government in the State as “years of debt, blood-letting and capital flight in
Ekiti State.”
He said; “By this time next year, God would have delivered Ekiti State and its people from those who are using the State’s resources to develop other lands while plunging the State into unnecessary debts.”
In a release issued today, Adeyeye while assessing the three-year reign of the governor noted that there was nothing to celebrate except debt, bloodshed and political intolerance that have become the government’s identities.
“Today, Ekiti people must be remembering with pains in their hearts the judicial imposition of Kayode Fayemi as their governor.
“Ekiti people must be pained because if not because of that judicial imposition, their State won’t be under the yoke of over N36 billion debt, their three universities would not have been merged into one, their State won’t be owing over N3 billion judgment debts and most importantly; civil servants, teachers, local government workers and health workers won’t be living under the fear of losing their jobs.
“Most importantly, Chief Adeleye Awolumate would not have been murdered in Otun, Ayo Mur[hy Jeje and 76 year old Madam Juliana Adewumi would not have been killed in Erijiyan-Ekiti if Fayemi had not gotten to power through the back door,” Adeyeye said.
While describing projects being commissioned by the governor to mark his third year anniversary as cosmetic, Adeyeye said; “It is only a government that does not mean well for the people that would spend borrowed funds on projects like construction of new government house, government pavilion, civic centre, generator powered street lights, laying of asphalt on already asphalted roads, planting of flowers, among others questionable projects and be celebrating it.”
He said; “Funny enough, all the projects executed or being executed by the immediate past PDP government and were roundly condemned by Fayemi when he assumed office are the ones he is now commissioning and advertising as his achievements.
“Yesterday (Monday), the governor commissioned the 11.64km Irele-Ponyan (Kogi State) road. This was the same road that Fayemi accused the PDP government of behaving like Father Christmas by constructing roads beyond Ekiti State borders.
“In 2011, Fayemi’s Contract/Consultancy Review Committee had listed roads constructed outside Ekiti State to include Otun-Osan-Ora (Osun), Iludun-Eda Oniyo-Oba Ayegunle (Kwara), Irele-Ponyan (Kogi) and Isinbode-Iro-Irun (Ondo), demanding that a total sum of N787,659,786.81 spent on the roads be refunded.
“Interestingly, these roads are the ones now being commissioned by the governor.”
While lamenting the plunging of the State into over N3 billion judgment debts by the Fayemi-led government through illegal sack of members of statutory commissions, boards and duly elected local government chairmen and councillors, he assured that God will put an end to the mismanagement of the State resources next year by enthroning a PDP government.
