In any LAGOS garage most importantly in Yoruba speaking
communities, there is only one way through which the bus conductors call the
attention of their intending passengers to their buses.
Once you hear Eko
Eko Eko !!!, you need nobody to
tell you that the bus is heading for the Centre of Excellence.
But, Eko Eko Eko things is not only for
those going to Lagos most especially when you are in Ikirun, the headquarters of
Ifelodun Local Government area of Osun State.
This is because there is another Eko very close to
Ikirun. The town is Ekoinde. The town is known for farming, thereby contributing
immensely to the economic growth of Ifelodun Local Government most importantly
during the market days.
Today, for people going to the town, Eko
junction in Ikirun has become a nightmare. This is because hoodlums have taken
over the junction.
Eko junction is now a place where thugs use as their money-making
industry.
They task people passing by without anybody to challenge
them. Infact, anyone who try to challenge them will not be the one to give the
report of whatever he or she face owing to the level of severe injuries
sustained through beatings from these men of underworld.
An appeal has, however gone to the State Commissioner
of Police, CP Dorothy Gimba to please look into the matter.
