“The fact that we are out of power for the past two years does not mean that we should not promote peace or support the State Government to enforce peace. No! We are a responsible opposition. We know our responsibility. Peace is not partisan,” he said.
Maku advised the PDP to reach out to all the affected communities and appeal to their youths to give peace a chance, in order to have a prosperous future. He added that the Federal Government would continue to support the Nassarawa State Government towards achieving peace across the State; noting that the quick intervention of the Federal Government in the recent crisis restored considerable calm to the affected areas. “We will do everything we can from here to help the State Government and to help the affected communities restore order and normalcy,” he remarked.

He also called on religious and community leaders to actively participate in the campaign for peace to create enabling environment for people of the state to go about their normal businesses and earn a living.
He observed that the recurring violence has negatively affected the image of the State which recorded a huge loss of lives and property coupled with the disruption of social and economic activities and enjoined all people of goodwill in the State to be committed to reversing the trend.
The Minister condemned divisive and bitter politics which according to him is usually promoted by political thuggery and urged the youth to desist from being used by selfish politicians to achieve their personal ambitions.
In his remarks, the leader of the delegation, Mohammed Garba Isimbabi thanked President Goodluck Jonathan for timely intervention in the Nassarawa State crisis, which according to him, contained the crisis and stopped it from spiraling out of control.
Mohammed Isimbabi assured that the people of the State are now united across ethnic and political divides to promote peaceful co-existence. He pledged support from the PDP in Nassarawa State to President Goodluck Jonathan and the national leadership of PDP under the chairmanship of Bamanga Tukur; saying the party is mobilising to reclaim Nassarawa State from the opposition in the 2015 general elections.
