Osun Commissioner of Police, Dorothy Gimba |
The
need for officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force to be closer to God has
been stressed.
This
was coming from the Chaplain of the Christian Fellowship of the Osun State
Command of the Nigeria Police, Venerable Abiodun Omolaja recently in Osogbo, Osun
State Capital.
The
clergy who was speaking at the foundation laying of Dugbe Division Worship
Centre admonished serving personnel of the Nigerian Police Force to build their
spiritual life and be more dedicated to the things of God.
He
was of the opinion that since the policing has become a herculean task in
Nigeria owing to the present security situation; police are to explore
necessary spiritual means to secure the country.
While
giving kudos to the transformation agenda of the Inspector General of Police,
IGP Mohammed Abubakar, CFR, the Chaplain posited that the building of worship
centers with the divisions of the Nigeria Police will bring police officers and
men closer to God.
Since
the police is saddled with the uttermost responsibility of protecting life of
property of the people, there is a need for a policeman to look for every
possible means of serving the country better.
Venerable
Omolaja also said whatever one build for God will stand.
In
her address, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Dorothy Gimba who was
very elated with the project charged officers and men of the command to look
for means ofn completing the project speedily.
The
police boss who gave an appreciable amount of money, the money which according
to the chaplain was enough to buy blocks that will complete the building, said
every officer and men should key into the transformation policy of the IGP.
She
charged those at the foundation laying ceremony to make sure that the meditate
on the sermon given by the chaplain adding that for such a place of worship to
be located within the premises of a division is a privilege;.
She
said, “With the present security situation of the country and the huge task
embedded in our job, if we should have a place of worship here it will serve not
only the police but the families of those living inside the barracks”.
Because
instead of them to go out there to a far place to worship, they can easily come
here and worship their God and go back home”
The
Worship Center has Chaplain’s office, room for the choir, Toilet, sanctuary,
Minister’s office and the sanctuary.
