A pan Northern group under the auspices of Arewa People’s Patriotic Front, APPFRONT, has alleged that the Kawu Baraje-led new Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and G7 governors want to destabilise Nigeria’s nascent democracy.
Addressing a news conference in Kaduna, National chairman and Secretary of the group, Mr. Mordecai Sunday Ibrahim and Sam Otitolaiye, respectively called on President Goodluck Jonathan and his vice, Namadi Sambo to remain calm and focus, advising them not to be distracted by disgruntled elements who are out to destroy their Transformation Agenda.
The group also warned the Baraje group not to throw the nation into deep crisis like that of 1966, noting that the G7 Governors are out of desperation in search of soft landing to avoid being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for their alleged corrupt practices.
The group said: “On the barrage of attacks on the office and the person of President Goodluck Jonathan over his yet to be announced ambition for 2015, it is obvious that majority of those launching these attacks are not democrats while the rest are only out to seek undue relevance.
